YOU CAN FIND NOTES ON DATA PROTECTION HERE

1. Subject of data protection declaration
We are pleased about your interest in our Internet presence and offers on our websites. The protection of your personal data (hereafter referred to as "data") is highly important for us.  As a consequence, we wish to inform you in detail about which data is collected when you visit our website and use offers provided there, and how this data is then processed and used by us, as well as which accompanying technical and organisational protection measures are implemented.

2. Responsible body/service provider
Within the terms of the German Data Protection Act (BDSG) the organisation with responsibility and at the same time a service provider within the meaning of the German Telemedia Act (TMG) is Oktalite Lichttechnik GmbH, Mathias-Brüggen-Str. 73, D-50829 Köln, Tel.: +49 221 59 767 0, fax: +49 221 59 767 400, e-mail: datenschutz@oktalite.com, see also the legal notice. Please address questions or comments concerning this data protection declaration or general questions concerning data protection to the following email address: datenschutz@oktalite.com.

3. Collection and use of your data
The extent and type of collection and use of your data is determined by whether you visit our website to only access information or whether you use services offered by us:

3.1 Informational use
It is fundamentally not required that you specify personal data for the informational use of our website.

In such cases we only collect and use your data automatically forwarded to us by your internet browser, such as:

  • date and time of the visit to our website
  • browser used
  • browser settings
  • operating system used
  • internet page previously visited by you
  • transferred data quantity and access status (transfer file, file not found etc.)
  • your IP address.

With informational visits we only collect and use this data in a non-personalised form. This is implemented to enable the use of internet pages called by you, for statistical purposes and for improving our website. If saving data in addition to the duration of your visit is required, no personal evaluation for this time period is carried out either.

3.2 Use of offers
If you wish to use offers offered on our website, e.g. (1.) ordering catalogues, brochures and customer magazines, (2.) ordering a newsletter, or (3.) registering Oktalite products and extending product guarantees or forwarding complaints, it is then necessary for you to specify further data. This concerns data specifically required for processing purposes, e.g. (1.) your postal address for sending a catalogue, brochure or customer magazine via post, (2.) your e-mail address for sending a newsletter, or (3.) your name and email address for registering Oktalite products, expanding product guarantees or registering complaints. You may voluntarily provide further specifications; these are designated by us appropriately.

Collecting and use of your data is implemented for the purpose of supplying the service requested by you, e.g. (1.) processing orders for catalogues, brochures and customer magazines, (2.) sending newsletters requested by you, or (3.) registering your Oktalite product, expanding the product guarantee, or processing complaints.

For these purposes, your data is forwarded by us to a supporting service provider that we have of course selected with care. This may concern technical service providers or service providers providing dispatch support.

Forwarding your data to third parties only takes place if we are obliged to do this by law.

3.3    Information on data transfer to the USA
Our website uses, in particular, tools from companies based in the USA. When these tools are active, your personal information may be transferred to the US servers of these companies. We must point out that the USA is not a safe third country within the meaning of EU data protection law. US companies are required to release personal data to security authorities without you as the data subject being able to take legal action against this. The possibility cannot therefore be excluded that US authorities (e.g. secret services) may process, evaluate and permanently store your data on US servers for monitoring purposes. We have no influence over these processing activities.
We have entered into valid appropriate guarantees with the service providers for the transmission to these third countries in accordance with Article 46 Para. 2 GDPR. If you have any further questions, please contact our data protection officer.

4. Newsletter
For you to register with our email newsletter service, we require at least your email address to which the newsletter should be sent in addition to your data protection approval. Any other specifications are voluntary and are used to contact you personally, to design newsletter content in a personal style, and for clarifying any queries concerning the email address.

For newsletter dispatch we use the so-called double opt-in process, meaning we will only send the newsletter to you if you have previously confirmed your registration via a confirmation email containing a link for this purpose. In this way we wish to ensure that only you are able to register for the newsletter as the owner of the specified email address. Your confirmation for this purpose must be carried out within 5 working days after receipt of the confirmation email, as otherwise your newsletter registration is automatically deleted from our database.

You can cancel any newsletters subscribed to at any time. For this purpose you can either send us an informal email to mail@oktalite.com or carry out cancellation via a link at the end of the newsletter.

You have expressly provided us with the consent and we have saved your consent to a protocol. In accordance with the German Telemedia Act, we are obligated to provide content at all times via consent.
